Custom, Affordable Retainers in Tulsa, OK

Dental retainers are custom-made appliances designed to keep your teeth in their proper position after orthodontic treatment. They can be made from clear plastic or thin metal wire and are available in fixed or removable styles, depending on your needs.

Retainers are an essential part of post-treatment care to prevent your teeth from shifting back to their original positions. Our team will guide you in selecting the right retainer after clear aligners or braces and discuss how long you should wear it based on your age and unique dental condition.

  • How long should retainers be worn after braces or Invisalign®?

Wearing retainers after braces is essential to maintaining a straight smile and preventing teeth from shifting. The length of time depends on individual factors, but consistent use ensures long-term results.

    • Most patients need to wear dental retainers full-time for several months before switching to nighttime use.
    • Long-term use, especially at night, helps maintain alignment and prevents teeth from gradually shifting.
  • What are the types of retainers?

Different types of retainer dental appliances offer unique benefits based on comfort, durability, and lifestyle. Your dentist will recommend the best option to keep your teeth in place after orthodontic treatment.

    • Hawley retainers use a metal wire and acrylic base to maintain tooth position while allowing minor adjustments.
    • Clear plastic retainers provide a nearly invisible option that fits snugly over teeth.
    • Fixed retainers consist of a thin wire bonded behind the front teeth for continuous support.
  • How do I clean my retainer?

Proper care keeps dental retainers free from bacteria and plaque buildup and ensures long-term effectiveness. Regular cleaning also prevents discoloration and odors.

    • Rinse dental retainers with lukewarm water after each use and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush.
    • Avoid hot water, which can warp plastic retainers, and use a mild cleanser or retainer-safe solution for deep cleaning.
    • Store retainers in a protective case when not in use to prevent damage or bacteria buildup.
