Invisalign
If you find yourself in the previously described situation, we hope you’ll consider Invisalign in Tulsa! As the name implies, Invisalign is a nearly invisible alignment method for your teeth. While braces rely on brackets and metal wires to reshape your smile, Invisalign solves the same problem in its own way. Invisalign aligners are clear, plastic molds that fit your teeth, shifting them to your desired position. The process of using Invisalign to straighten your smile entails progressing through a number of these different plastic aligners. Each successive aligner adjusts your teeth just a bit more than the last until eventually you have a perfect smile.

Benefits of Invisalign
-
Invisalign is practically invisible! Most people won’t even be able to tell when you’re wearing your Invisalign aligner.
-
You can eat and drink whatever you want while you’re receiving treatment.
-
Invisalign is more comfortable than traditional braces. Without bits of metal sticking to your teeth and poking you, we think you’ll agree that this process is a lot more painless.
-
Unlike braces, Invisalign retainers don’t require long visits to the orthodontist for your brackets to be tightened.
What’s the Process of Getting Invisalign?
Once we’ve talked and decided that this is what you want to do, the first thing we’ll need to do is take x-rays and make an impression of your teeth. When we have a digital image of your mouth we can plot out the necessary movements your teeth need to take in order to reach their desired positions.
From there we can design your aligners, made custom to your needs. With the aligners ready, you can start wearing them throughout the day. As your smile adjusts we’ll have you come in for regular check-ups and help you advance through the next steps of the process.
Invisalign Frequently Asked Questions
Q: From start to finish, how long does Invisalign take:
A: The average period of treatment for Invisalign is around 12-18 months. However, you’ll start seeing positive changes in your teeth within the first couple months, but following the schedule and wearing the retainers consistently can help you finish faster.
Q: How long do I need to wear my aligner each day?
A: For best results, you should wear your retainer for at least 22 hours a day. You’ll need to remove them when you eat and you’ll want to clean them regularly, but save for these exceptions, we advise that you always keep your aligners in place.
Q: How do I maintain my aligners?
A: It is important to clean your aligners regularly in order to prevent mold and bacteria from forming in it. As you would suspect, any place as dark, warm and moist as a mouth can turn into a great habitat for unwanted bacteria. We advise you to make a habit of regularly washing your aligner to keep it clean. This will also keep your aligner from smelling bad. Some patients have had success buying denture-cleaner and allowing their aligners to soak in it for a few minutes each night while getting ready for bed.
