Invisalign

Are you tired of having crooked teeth? Having a misaligned smile can really weigh on your self-confidence. Of course, wearing braces can straighten your teeth, but perhaps that option doesn’t appeal to you - braces are extremely noticeable and can be a hassle to wear. Adults especially might be embarrassed to wear them. But just deciding to have crooked teeth isn’t a great option, either. Misaligned teeth can become more and more crooked, introducing complications and risks to your oral health that you might have not ever considered.

If you find yourself in the previously described situation, we hope you’ll consider Invisalign in Tulsa! As the name implies, Invisalign is a nearly invisible alignment method for your teeth. While braces rely on brackets and metal wires to reshape your smile, Invisalign solves the same problem in its own way. Invisalign aligners are clear, plastic molds that fit your teeth, shifting them to your desired position. The process of using Invisalign to straighten your smile entails progressing through a number of these different plastic aligners. Each successive aligner adjusts your teeth just a bit more than the last until eventually you have a perfect smile.

Benefits of Invisalign

What's the Process of Getting Invisalign Like?

The first time you come into our Tulsa cosmetic dentistry, we’ll have a consultation with you and discuss your goals and concerns for getting Invisalign. We’ll take a look at your bite and help you determine if this is the best method for adjusting your teeth. We want you to feel comfortable and confident with Invisalign, and we also want to make sure that you’re 100% satisfied with the result! Understanding your needs helps us accomplish this.

Once we’ve talked and decided that this is what you want to do, the first thing we’ll need to do is take x-rays and make an impression of your teeth. When we have a digital image of your mouth we can plot out the necessary movements your teeth need to take in order to reach their desired positions.

From there we can design your aligners, made custom to your needs. With the aligners ready, you can start wearing them throughout the day. As your smile adjusts we’ll have you come in for regular check-ups and help you advance through the next steps of the process.

From Start to Finish, How Long Does Invisalign Take?

The average period of treatment for Invisalign is around 12-18 months. However, you’ll start seeing positive changes in your teeth within the first couple months, but following the schedule and wearing the retainers consistently can help you finish faster. Remember, we want you to get your smile straightened and the treatment finished just as quickly as you do! In order to do this, make it a priority to come in for regular appointments. Depending on your sensitivity and the condition of your teeth, you may also consider speaking with us to adjust the time you spend on each successive aligner. Oral needs tend to vary person to person, and you may find that you can customize the amount of time you spend with each aligner. We’ll work with you to find the maximum level of comfort and efficiency.

How Long do I Need to Wear My Aligner Each Day?

For best results, you should wear your retainer for at least 22 hours a day. You’ll need to remove them when you eat and you’ll want to clean them regularly, but save for these exceptions, we advise that you always keep your aligners in place.

How Do I Maintain My Aligners?

It is important to clean your aligners regularly in order to prevent mold and bacteria from forming in it. As you would suspect, any place as dark, warm and moist as a mouth can turn into a great habitat for unwanted bacteria. We advise you to make a habit of regularly washing your aligner to keep it clean. This will also keep your aligner from smelling bad. Some patients have had success buying denture-cleaner and allowing their aligners to soak in it for a few minutes each night while getting ready for bed.

We hope that this page answers any questions you may have! If you have any other concerns or would like to schedule a consultation, give us a call today! As your Tulsa cosmetic dentist, we want you to be delighted with your smile, and you’ll be amazed at what we can do.
